Talk: A Sense of Place
John Rux-Burton will talk about one of the poems featuring in the exhibition, Wordsworth’s Lines Composed a Few Miles above Tintern Abbey. He will discuss how much more we can obtain from the poem if we contextualise it within the poet’s experience of the Wye, the photographs he has taken exploring that place today, how it is changed/unchanged since 1797 and, more broadly, how emblematic the poem is of the vital link between place and poetic muse in English poetry. The exhibition A Sense of Place is running Thursday 17 April to Thursday 8 May 2014.
The Gallery is open during performances and films and throughout Chipping Norton Literary Festival. Also open on Wednesday, Fridays and Saturdays 11am - 3pm
